Does anybody else struggle with obsessive compulsive shopping? I have the worst time of it in the spring. I didn't really know that it was a "thing" until I Google searched it today.

The only thing that keeps me from spending compulsively is obsessively telling myself I don't have the money. But then obviously, it turns to obsessing, and I spend hours virtually shopping and dreaming about what I "could" buy if I just had more money. And I'm just now realizing how incredibly not helpful that is!! What in the world do other people do to help themselves out with this?

I have a small ($70/month) allotted amount of money to spend in our budget, but I'm not sure if this "play money" is a good idea or a bad idea. I'm not sure if it hurts or helps more.

I'm not sure if this can be OCD or an addiction...I heard about shopping addiction. But I don't know if this and compulsive shopping are the same thing or not.

I think it can be very compulsive, not exactly OCD but it can be triggered by OCD or other mental problems I have issues with shopping too. For example, Last night I filled up my cart with items of my wishlist on a certain shopping site just to see how much it all would be and I couldn't stop even to use restroom until I had finished filling it up with the items and when I was done I felt pathetic to have wasted time doing it but I long for items I don't need my thing it Movies I shop for DVDs , Blu-rays, and sometimes VHS movies. I love watching movies so I sometimes hoard them. I have over 126 movies at the moment and recently got 2 more . I spend way too much on them and it has become a problem so I can understand you having issues with it. Compulsive shopping is very hard to stop you may very well have a shopping addiction. sorry for rambling I hope this has helped or been useful in some way.
