Something miracolous happened to me.
Frustrated by my thinning hair I did some research and I found out that MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is good for hair growth. So I ordered it and started taking it. Suddenly there were no more hairs on the floor. I had no longer the urge to pull. I was primed to sulfurous compounds because I read that some people had success with NAC. I took it myself but pulling did not stop. The urge is just gone ... as long as I take MSM. I take a spoonful a day with a lot of Vitamin C. I take multivitamins as well. Sometimes if there is an itch the hand goes to the hairs again. But the hairs are much harder to pull out so I am able to stop. It is not new that MSM is good for hairgrowth but the trichotillomania effect is still a miracle to me. So, never give up. There might be an important discovery just around the corner. |

Just a bit more information:
I pulled mainly from the scalp. I have no idea if MSM also helps with other types of TTM. I also take antidepressants. Those made my situation much better but never stopped my pulling. For MSM I got negative and positive feedback. |

Quote:
it is very cheap. In Europe in can be ordered at Amazon. It is no problem to take it together with depression medication as MSM is just organic sulfur. It is very important to take a lot of vitamin c with it (I ordered powders and mixed them). At the beginning I had some problems with the digestion, but those disappeared after some time. Other options are NAC and Inositol. Do not forget the Vitamin C if taking NAC. Otherwise you get kidney stones. |
