I would like to start an Anxiety Support Chat to be held once a week. At this time, it will widely appeal to those with specific disorders (OCD, etc.), those with other forms of anxiety, etc.
I am brainstorming holding the chat on Thursdays at 3-4pm PDT. Here is more information: http://forums.psychcentral.com/anxie...ml#post3772166 Please let me know if you would be interested and if the given day/time works for you (and if not, please share what would work better for you). Thanks! |

i see a great need for an Anxiety Management Chat, which teaches skills as well as provides emotional support. i would, however, like to see a more senior PC member at least Co-Lead the group. this is a very sensitive area, and absences are likely to be more hurtful than in some other groups.
i would actually prefer an earlier time for a group, as i tend to wear out by 2pm and take a nap ![]() there is a basic skills post in this forum which might be useful: http://forums.psychcentral.com/copin...whelming~.html best wishes~ Gus

Birds- I think this is a great idea.
It's not clear to me if you have personal experience with OCD or not. If not, I especially agree with Gus on having a co-leader- one who has experience and knowledge of OCD. Then you are covering all the bases if you want to be inclusive of most anxiety disorders. It is probably a good idea anyway, though. But doubly so since you are a newer member and just aren't as familiar with anyone- also it can give you coverage if you need to take one of the times off. If you are interested in looking for a co-leader, I would be willing to volunteer if you want to check out my posts, or discuss with me a little bit in chat. I've studied psych formally and informally for several years and have experience in peer support to a degree, I also briefly had a chat before. I also experience OCD and to some degree social anxiety off and on. No hard feelings if you aren't interested, but thought I would volunteer. I'm in chat pretty often, if you want to catch me. You can check out some of my posts on the board as well or send me a board message [I have it set so anyone can message me]. I'd also recommend, if you have a flexible schedule in terms of the chat time, you could maybe do a poll on both of these threads? ![]() |

To reduce confusion, I am replying to member's double-posts on the thread in the anxiety section of the forum. Thanks!
