Hi everyone. This is my first post, and I was wondering about this.

I struggle with Emetophobia and OCD. I have struggled with Emetophobia and OCD for a little over a decade.

Recently, I have had some stress... and have been just pulling on my hair. It is like a stress reliever... although the stress does not completely go away.

What is more weird is that, since I am male, it sort of makes me feel weird that I might be one of the only males who suffer from Trich. I don't think this is Trich, but just me wanting to pull on my hair, (it is shorter), because of stress.

I have noticed that when I am stressed, my arm goes up to my head and grabs on to the hair.

I also have an urge to shave my hair off. I don't know why but I just want to take a razor thing and shave it all off.

Now my head/hair, hurts or has a numb itchy feeling. :/

Is this Trichotillomania or just me pulling my hair because of stress?

It sounds like it could be trich but you would need to seek a professional opinion to be sure. You definitely wouldn't be the only male with this. I just watched a show on netflix about a male with this.

Males have trich as well. I had a friend who pulled his arm hairs and even eyelashes out. I think it was anxiety-related, but I know getting professional help did help him out.

Really? What is the show called? We have Netflix, so I should be able to find it.

Yes, the stress I refer to is mostly due to the Emetophobia/OCD type of stress.
However, I can not get any help right now. :/

It's called Obsessed. Be forewarned, I found some of the episodes very triggering so proceed with caution, ok?

And....the guys episode wasn't very positive. He didn't really put in the work...don't let that dissuade you. I do know someone who recovered from this. She had trich for 18 years and have been symptom free for 10.

Thank you. I watched it.
An update would be that I want to shave my head, the problem is... I have thick/bush type hair... and it would look bad, but I mean... pulling hair would be noticeable from the start, so if it were to be shaved, just a bad hair cut would be people's assumption. :/
