Anyone else have a hard time posting anything without reading it over & over again and/or editing it over & over again until they anxiously post it? Then afterwards, reading it again after posting it & getting upset if there are any errors especially if you can't edit them? If so, is that considered OCD behavior or something else?

Not certain. Here's an article about living with OCD

Yes.

I do this with posts all the time. In fact, I went through the process you described on another forum about ocd just an hour ago.

I think this corresponds to "checking" behavior.

I also do this with conversations I've had or imagine I'm going to have. Usually I rehearse and rephrase what I'm going to say endlessly and then when it's time to talk I come up with something on the spot.
Thanks for this!

I do this all. the. time. I do it with text messages too, but only if they cover important information or are going to someone with whom I have a more professional or less familiar relationship. I'll keep drafts of texts for weeks at a time before I either delete (more likely) or send them.

Oh yeah, I make myself crazy sometimes because I have to keep checking posts over and over before I send them. And then, once posted, I'll read it over, find something I don't like and edit it again if possible. If it's not possible to fix a post that I sent then I'll mull over it for hours, feeling bad because everyone will think I'm an idiot.
FYI: this post was re-written 3 times, checked 9 times and I looked up the word 'mull' to make sure it was in proper context. And, I'm still not real happy with it.

I love it when I come up with a word that just seems to fit the context, and then I start doubting myself and then I look up the word and it turns out I was right.

It's a much better feeling than not looking the word and then the word turns out to mean something else, like shedding feathers instead of thinking or something. I once did this in real life with the word "sleazy." I guess I thought it meant sexy but in a more refined and appropriate way than what Fergie was singing about in Fergalicious.

I've done it for years.
What makes it worse is I have a compulsion to answer/help people, so i've done it a LOT!
I've always spend 3 hours typing a helpful, accurate, detailed answer, then looked at it and deleted. (not only once either)

Perfectionism is one part. (OCD)
Fear of getting wrong and causing someone harm if they carry it out is another (for me)
Another is afraid come off stupid/don't know what talking about.

I just signed in to forum to ask a question about my compulsion, and I answered this first, lol. (gotta laugh)

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
