I have Bipolar and just did an inpatient stay where at the end, I was put on Clomipramine, an OCD drug. I have been having obsessions with things such as religion or math or cleaning/organizing. I thought the latter was part of mania but I guess I was going through a Bipolar depression more so. There were no delusisions or hallucinatinos like I didn't think I was Jesus or anything, just an obsession with learning the Christian religion and surrounding myself with it, even though I'm not Christian. And doing math problems and seeing math problems around me, stuff like that.

I don't really have compulsions though. What do you all think?

Many disorders have overlapping symptoms so the most reliable info comes from your psychiatrist or therapist.

To search more go to Psych Central - Trusted mental health, depression, bipolar, ADHD & psychology information.

So, one thing I learned when my mom got diagnosed with OCD is that you can have lots of compulsions but few obsessions or lots of obsessive tendencies but few compulsions. That can still be diagnosed as OCD. So it makes sense to me

My step son is dx OCD but really it's OD because he doesn't have the compulsions but has certain thoughts that run though his mind like a broken record and often gets stuck on what he calls 'one perfect thought' and it won't leave for days sometimes. It gets very frustrating for him.
