I've been having this irrational thought due to anxiety recently about me being afraid of "life". I've been having irrational thoughts for the past few weeks about fear of how I walk or talk but now that that thought has changed, I've come up with this new thought where I feel like I'm afraid to be alive yet at the same time I am not suicidal.

Can someone please tell me if distraction helps by not thinking of the thought? I feel like I'm deluding myself into thinking that I want to die when the truth is I really don't!

distraction method - when ever your irrational thoughts appear in your mind
try to label your thought "this is an unnatural thought/or an OCD thought "
so that thought's power start to loose , dont give chance to you mind or OCD

but you can think "this easy to advice but hard to follow",haha i know this because experience , but keep try i will work

My counselor had mentioned several times how he hated distraction methods as treatment but sort of allowed it in especially stressful bad times.

I don't know, I sort of think the mentality is you don't want to distract yourself every time because then you're not ever treating the issue, you're just running away from it, kicking the can down the road, letting it build up. But when you need to, if you're thoughts are completely consuming you and reaching a certain boiling point and you don't have on hand anyone or any resource to help. a distraction isn't so bad.

Movies always help me when I just can't deal with it anymore. Comedies and Feel-good type of movies especially will put you in a real good place.
