I've dealt with it for 15 years; I've known what it was called for about half that time. I'm new to this site, and it's great to not feel alone after so long. It's also great to read all the advice and success here.

I've discovered some of the things I can do for myself, but never thought that I could find help elsewhere. I've learned to manage it enough to keep notice-ability down, but it only goes so far when you pick your beard away. Knowing more has thankfully removed a lot of the shame associated with it, and that is were y'all come in! All of your sharing makes a difference with others of us!

As a side note, I could shave my beard, but I already shave my head due to natural hair recession. Not willing to do both at the moment.

Hi, jdk82. I had trich as a teenager with long hair (I'm a woman). I was obsessed with splitting off split ends. It really didn't stop til I got my hair cut to a length where I couldn't get a good look at the ends of my hair anymore.
Recently after many years I grew my hair long for two years. To my dismay, the trich came back. I now have short hair again. It wasn't that big a deal for me to go back to shorter hair, but I hope you find a way to wear your beard the way you want it.
