I am a scalp picker, primarily. I will pick at my scalp for hours. I enjoy making it bleed and I like looking at the scabs.
Anyway, I've been doing this since I was eight years old. It was consistent, non-stop picking up until my early twenties, and since then I just go through phases of it. Right now I'm going through a picking phase again. I'm not sure what causes the phases of picking. Any thoughts? I know how to make myself stop. It's just I always enjoy it so much that I never want to stop until it becomes so time-consuming that I don't really enjoy it anymore.

Not really certain of the causes. Have you spoken with your doctor about ways to combat this?

with me it seems to be anxiety driven, partially. I'm also bipolar II, but I've been picking as long as I can remember. I've talked to my doctor about it, but she seems to treat it like a bad habit, instead of the OCD that I think it falls under. I want to stop, but I just can't seem to.
