Hello. I am recently diagnosed with OCD and I know it affects me a lot. My main thing at the moment is contamination problems. I need to wash my hands constantly. But I have noticed I need to do this if I touch too many different surfaces. If I touch nothing the entire day, I wouldn't need to wash my hands, but since that is impossible, I do so. I notice this after 5-10 different surfaces. It's worse when they aren't surfaces only I touch like my bedsheets, or my clothes or hair, but if I touch a table someone else has touched, this compulsion gets in the way. It's not that I obsess about being contaminated, but I just feel contaminated, so I go wash my hands because of this weird feeling. Does anyone else on here have contamination OCD and is this a similar situation to you? Thanks for the response

Do you know why you feel contaminated? I'm not asking you to share on here - but if you know why, this might give you a start to get the OCD problem sorted out, because if you had therapy, it would begin there.

I honestly have no idea why. I have been asked why I feel contaminated, but I have no idea. My hands just feel really weird and dirty so then I feel I need to wash them because they feel weird and dirty. And then I do. And I won't have therapy for a while because of complicated matters. Thanks for the response
