Hi,
medications don't seem to work for me, so I was just curious how do people deal with Trichotillomania? When I was waiting to see my doctor this lady told me Seroquel XR helped her with her hair pulling. My doctor suggested a supplement called NAC.

CBT does not seem to help me. Any ideas? advice?
Thanks

I've also heard that nac can help. Not sure about Seroquel, but my antipsychotic does seem to help with my obsessions. It makes thrm more manageable.

really that's interesting! I have not tried NAC yet, but my doctor said that was an option. I also googled seroquel xr and trichotillomania and some people said they had good results from it which is interesting. I will let you guys know if my doctor decides to give me Seroquel
Thanks for this!

I was on Seroquel and NAC together for a while. The hair pulling got...well, I became more obsessive about it, and would spend hours selecting the hairs that I would pull, but in quantitative terms, I pulled less. I wouldn't say that it was good for me, and eventually my psychiatrist pulled me off because there were some issues regarding my Lupus. I would not recommend trying them together at first, but again, in quantitative terms, I did end up pulling less. Perhaps you'll have different side effects, but I just wanted to share.

Oh, and my cousin also has trich and took NAC alone. She said that it's dulled down when she takes other meds along side it, but that it helps by itself quite a bit.
