Hi. So, I have been playing with my hair for years now, but it's just now become an actual problem for me. I have a giant bald area on my head but it's just naturally covered by the hair around it, plus I've been wearing hats. It's actually kinda shocking my parents haven't noticed yet. It's only a matter of time before my hair shifts and my parents see part of the bald spot. But I want to tell them myself. I want to show them how big the bald area is and that this is a big problem for me. How do I show them without scaring them? The bald spot is so big, I don't want to frighten them. Also, if they say "just stop", how do I tell them I can't? I just really need some advice here. Thanks

Hello Bookworm,

As a parent, I am sure they would appreciate you opening up and letting them know what is going on. Yes, they will be frightened at first, but keep in mind their reaction will be temporary. Opening up will help them get you the help you need ( help along the lines of Anxiety and OCD). It may also help them to ease and eliminate any additional stress or pressure they have been putting on you. Please know You are not alone, it's best to let someone know what is going on and be honest. Tell them you can't stop. From my personal experience, high stress levels increase the pull, so by opening up, maybe they can help alleviate whatever stress you are having

Good luck.
