Hi everyone

I have OCD, it involves having bad thoughts and washing my hand/touching water as compulsion.

I am looking for people to talk to about my OCD and share my struggles and discuss ways of coping with it.

What should I do to get help for the treatment of OCD and I would like to talk with anyone willing to talk with me.
Hugs from:

Hello Aliiyah: I'm not the member you're looking for here on PC. But you asked about getting treatment for OCD. So I wondered if you are familiar with family therapist Kati Morton's videos on YouTube. She's done a number of them on the subject of OCD & intrusive thoughts. Here are links to a couple of them:

Also, here are links to a couple of articles on the topics of OCD & intrusive thoughts from PsychCentral's archives. (There are quite a few others as well.)

Good luck!

Thanks.

Does anyone here has the same kind of compulsion in response to intrusive thoughts as I find washing hands to prevent the intrusive thoughts from not happening is not very common compulsion? I would like to chat with people having OCD, its very debilitating condition for me and I am looking to talk with anyone who understands what having OCD is like.

I am writing here again, just to see if someone might have anything to say.

I have a form of ocd where "bad" thoughts pop up in my brain, and these thoughts usually are about harm coming to people I know and even random strangers. What my anxiety makes me do is to do rituals in order to undo the thought and prevent further contamination by/ spread of that thought (if this contamination and spreading of thought makes sense).

The ritual is to touch water to prevent that "bad" thought from happening and preventing contamination.

So , this to me seems a form of magical thinking in ocd.

How should I tackle this? What is the approach to these "bad thoughts" and the need to undo them?
