I normally could, but sorry, this time, I have to learn how to ignore, which I don't know how to do.

Well... you didn't say what you're trying to ride out. (Perhaps other members already know.) Presumably it has something to do with OCD since this is the forum you posted in.

My personal opinion is you can't ignore stuff such as painful emotions, intrusive or obsessive thoughts, etc. The alternative to just going with it, doing whatever it is you're obsessing about, (which I sometimes make the conscious choice to do) is, to my mind, to simply sit with whatever it is, breathe into it, perhaps even smile to it & allow it to be there without trying to change it, deny it, ignore it, stop it, push it back down, etc.

This is the practice known as "compassionate abiding". I presume you've probably run across it before. (Perhaps I've even linked you to the description of it in replies to previous threads?) But just in case not... here's the link to the mental-health-oriented description of the practice I frequently offer members here on PC:

Relieve Distress By Allowing It: Compassionate Abiding 101 | Mindset: Perspective Is Everything

Compassionate abiding is my go-to practice for working with all manner of difficult emotions & thoughts.

Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
