My husband went through a very deep depression last year. He’s never been diagnosed but I have some concerns about his obsessive thinking. For close to a year now, all he’s talked about race, racism, and white privilege. He’s on Twitter and tweets a lot about it. Not a day goes by where he doesn’t go on a long rant about racism, his rants have gone on for hours. . I sometimes thought he was bipolar but wonder if it could be OCD. He’s been seeing a therapist for over a year and he he not on any meds. I know no one is here to diagnose. I just want to see if this is common.

It doesn't looks like OCD. People with OCD get lots of thoughts and they perform compulsions. But here your husband is only getting thoughts and doesn't show any symptom of repetitive behaviour.

The topic is completely happening right now, with everything in the news daily. So, it’s understandable it has him so triggered, he’s on an obsessive rant.

Does he become obsessive about other things, too?

I am not diagnosed but have obsessive thoughts, especially from things/people who upset me. I also unconsciously do repetitive behavior which is just compulsively typing in air with my fingers. It’s something I’ve always done and it doesn’t hinder me or bother me at all.

Some people with OCD perform rituals and feel that something bad will happen if they don’t. I never had this thinking.
