does anyone know which region of the brain is associated with hair pulling? does it smoothly correlate to the part of the head that's being pulled out? so if someone is pulling from one part of their head, is that region of the brain being affected?

I wish I could help.

Sadly I am not aware of any medical studies that have correlated hair pulling in the way you describe.

Trichotillomania has been studied from a genetic perspective, in animal studies related to hair grooming and in human brain imaging studies, Various areas of the brain have been "linked" to hair pulling but the neurobiology of this is still relatively new and in its infancy compared to other areas of psychology and neurology, neurobiology and neurochemistry.

Much of the research is available on the Internet but sometimes one is required to pay to read the research although some sites provide abstracts for free.

I have done key word searches under "trichotillomania" "neurobiology" "brain imagining" "animal studies" "genetics" for example.

So very worry I could not be helpful to you in this matter!!!
