I seem to be obsessed with my email. I have it set so a tone goes off when I get an email and everytime it goes off I have to stop what I'm doing and check it. I have tried turning it off or at least turning my speakers down or even off but then I am worrying what if someone is trying to get ahold of me and needs me and I miss their email and something bad happens.

As much as I love having email its driving me nuts. I am waiting for my T to email me back to now I am checking it all the time and practically run to the computer when the tone goes off.

This is just a rant.

I think that's a very common problem these days, even for those not normally prone to obessions. e-mail is as disruptive as it is helpful...there are some interesting studies about how badly it affects productivity in the workplace, because the constant flow of e-mail keeps people from thinking things through thoroughly.

Heck, I'm still not much of a fan of the phone. Not that I could live without it, but it allows people infinite opportunity to interrupt you. I also worry when I phone if I'm bothering somebody. Even though it was much less efficient, it must have been a lot less stressful in the days when folks could only correspond by letter!

I feel the same. Texting is the closest way to the phone and letters :P

jbug...think nothing of it, we're all here to help.

Zloppy, yes, I have to get into the texting habit more. We just have such lousy cell phone plans in Canada, though hopefully that's going to change soon.

You wanna talk about email obsession... I'm writing this from my blackberry at mcdonalds. There is literally no human being on earth with less need for a blackberry than me. I get like one email a day and it is like "how's that prospectus going?" So I don't even answer it.
