HI everyone,

I'm wondering if Depakote has ever been used to treat OCD. I believe I'm having side effects from one or more meds I take each day. I'm on Paxil, which has helped depression and OCD for me but Risperdal has me oversedated so I'm hoping to go off of it. I don't know if what I'm experieincing is lack of an effective response to Risperdal or the interaction w/ Paxil.

Hello tradepoet, it's nice to meet you.
I don't have any experience with those meds, I have ocd and I have tried Geodon and Lamictal, both had too severe of side effects for me to take them. This is a good question for the doctor prescribing your meds because meds effect different people differently.

I have been on Depakote ER 250mg for a few years...It was prescribed to combat two problems: Excessive epinephrine reaching the brain as a result of cardiac issues and as a "leveling" influence for many of the associated emotional issues I was having (and am still having) at the time.

I have had very minor if any side effects from the medication and neither my MD or neurologist have any issues with it at all. Check with your doctor.

I am, however, still having chronic difficulties with my OCD/Depression so I'm still looking...

Hope this helps.

Hi everybody,

I was seriously ocd and started taking Luvox. That combined with effective therapy has helped immensely and I no longer pick my eyelashes/brows out, though I still pick at my skin. But I would highly recommend Luvox. Great drug.
