I get to a point that I have to have everything in alphabetical order. Or I put things in order of size, colors (either alphabetically by color or by colors of the rainbow). It is difficult trying to keep 700 movies in alphabetical order well that is what I used to have but don't have them any more. Books are a little different I put them in order of size then if there are some that are the same size then I put them in order by Title unless I have several by the same author and I like to keep them together so I will put them all together then alphabetize them. Is that crazy? I llok at the cans on the shelves and want them first by category (alphabetized of course) then alphabetical order by kind then by brand name. Like I will have all of the vegetables together with usually the corn first then in the corn depending on size I put them like all del Monte together and all Western Family together etc. Is this a part of OCD? Oh and I get totally stressed out if I cannot get it this way. This drives people absolutely crazy when I do this.

Welcome to psych central.
It does sound like you have some ocd symptoms going on. Do you see anybody like a therapist? I have ocd and when I am able to lessen my overall anxiety then the symptoms are not as bad, it's a lot better since I am in therapy and take meds.

Again welcome and it's nice to meet you, if you have any questions feel free to private message any community liaison or moderator, here is a link to a list of forum leaders.

I have OCD and my movies are the same way. I have them separated my genre and then alphabetized. My CD's are the same way.

My food is in the cupboard any ole way just because I don't care about that but I am obsessed with my movies and music they have to be perfect.
