20mg even 40mg will help you see some diference with depression. Hair pulling? It is called "tricho" something (poor memory) I am not sure about the relation of that and celexa, I've been on celexa, but not for any OCD type behaviour(s), it was primarily for depression. Welcome to the forums, you will meet a lot of nice, supportive people here.
For your well being, I hope you are being treated by a pdoc and not a GP for this disorder. GP's are best at their field, but Psychiatrists cannot be replaced by seeing a GP. Lots of luck, please take care "darkeyes" In giving advice seek to help, not please your friend SOLON __________________ |

I don't hair pull but would like to say hi, welcome to the forums. I was imbarrassed by the things I did for SI for a long time. Some of the things I did disgusted me afterwards. I finally came to terms with it all though. I decided that Yes I do this stuff, it was part of me and I refuse to be disgusted by myself. Now it is easier to tell my T what is going on, it is easier to face the situation because it doesn't shame me in to avoidance, and I think now I have a better chance of getting away from these behaviors. It is just a maladaptive coping device that I learned because as a child someone forgot to teach me constructive ways to deal with stuff. Now I just have to teach myself.

It's called Trichotillomania. I had a friend when I was in high-school who suffered from the illness. If anyone is interested there is a 32 page .pdf file about the illness that can be downloaded at:
http://www.oup-usa.org/sc/0195149424...9424_intro.pdf As for my advice, Bella, I would suggest finding as much information as you can about the disorder, and learning about it, then working from there. As well, speaking to a trusted friend, or a Therapist, can help you to vent any frustrations you may feel in regards to your situation. Both of these things can help you better understand yourself, and the possible reasons why the behavior exists. You are not alone, especially not here, where we all have unique, and individual ways of dealing with stress. (((((BellaBlue24))))) In the meantime, please do not be too hard on yourself, realize that you are special and unique in your own ways, and that you can always come here if you need to vent, or seek advice. ^^ Take care. |
