Does anyone know how I can get mental health treatment without insurance coverage? I quit school due to severe, recurrent depression and I lost my insurance coverage. Now I have no job, no money, and no medical care. I need some help and I don't know where to look.

have you tried your state facilities? there should be an institution that you can apply to for state benefits. we have a clinic here, named after a state politician, that offers mental health help. look in your phone book under mental health...that's how it's listed here. good luck!

Check your local Social Services Office. All counties have free or reduced mental health services available. It is all based on your income. I currently seek services through the county and I have health coverage. I do this for several reasons. First is that it's cheaper then going through my insurance, second is I fear if I file to many claims through my insurance, either the premiums will go up or they will drop me so I chose this route. I do not feel that my care had been compromised either. Good luck to you.
Please keep us posted.

most counties in the US have a community mental health center. if they don't, then they should have access to a county's services close to them.

i have insurance, but continue to go to my community mental health center. they take payment according to income. if you have no income, no payment is required.

i wish you well. you could find out about services in your area but contacting your county social services organization.

gl to you and let us know what you find out and decide to do?
