I am more of a visual and tactile learner. I usually read the newspaper online. The novels I have read have usually been ones that I have had to read for school. I just purchased 4 novels online today. Most of them are around 400 pages. Not too bad...

My difficulty is my ability to concentrate and focus my attention while reading novels. I have to break the book into segments to read. For example read 15 pages and then take a break.

For those of you who have a love for reading novels and other literature, what is the best way to increase your reading capacity (number of pages and comprehension of what you are reading) if you have difficulties with concentration?

I am THE worst when it comes to comprehension.

No idea why...been like that since the 3rd grade, probably sooner. I just remember since the 3rd grade cuz that's when I recall all the "D"s n "F"s...I don't even remember ever receiving anything above a "C"....Was estatic if I did receive a "C"...lol.

My attention span is null. I have tried many different tactics of teaching myself conprehension...all to no avail.
I suppose I'm simply 'memory-challenged' when it comes to certain things....such as movies I've seen, programs I've watched, articles I've read, (books?...lol...out of the question..I'd be lucky to get past the introduction).

Thanks for your suggestion, though. For many, I'm certain that it will be very helpful.

Take care~

Gotcha !!!! Zen I have the same problem with concentration.
I usually have to go back and read it a second time to fully understand it. Reading is a great pastime .
Good luck , maybe there's someone here that can help
you , but it just ain't me at the moment.
Have a great night

I like to read, and my problem is if it is not interesting than I can't read it. I think that taking a break after 15 minutes is good if you can't stand the book. Sometimes if the book is so boring then In my case I might need to go re-read a chapter, or a paragraph. Hope this helps.

I love to read too, but get bored very easily. I tend to skip paragraphs, pages, heck even chapters. Guess thats why college didn't pan out so well

i have the opposite problem...i get lost in the book. Maybe if you pictured your self in the scene an onlooker or maybe a different character at times.
