Well, I went to my first meeting tonight and it was an awesome feeling. I was feeling like I was never gonna make it and this gave me hope and support. I even made a couple friends that I went out for coffee with after the meeting. And one of the guys is going to take me to another meeting tomorrow.

Went to my first AA meeting tonight...
Yey Ry! I am 15 years sober and love my meetings still....they "ground"me. One day at a time, one meeting at a time. Sometimes you don't get that "high" from a meeting but it still does the "job". I have just recently seen some of your posts and you seem to be a very loving and caring person with some challenges and questions looking for some answers in life (as most of us in here are) and I am hoping to get to know you a little better.

Take care,
tooter (pam)

Well, I went again to the same group and it was great. Open speaker night so I got to listen to someone with some serious sober time and it was enlightening. I have some hope... true hope... not that crap I had that let me keep drinking... real, honest to God hope for a better life. Went to dinner after with a small group and I had a great time. Thanks again for the continued support yall have given me.

Hi Ryan,

What really impresses me is that you are socialising without the booze. Going out for a coffee, going for a meal - and with new friends as well.

This is seriously good news.

Ryan, I'm so proud of you, and a little jealous too. (I haven't gotten up the nerve to go to an abuse support group yet). Reading your reports of making friends and socializing is giving me a push to go.

gee wish Ihad a group like that to socialize with... but I'm not in need of AA. I don't even need NA because I don't have an addiction nor a tolerance for my pain meds.

Sky, any family with alcoholism? You could check out Alanon.

Ryan.....AWESOME work!! I'm so glad you're not just going to the meetings and then leaving. The before and after time are so important. I went out to eat with a group in my first week and we had the best time. You're doing great and I'll say it again, I am SOOO proud of you!!

L,
Rayna
