You are running a very fine site, I see very few problems if any. Most people get along and are supportive and there is no need for overly harsh rules to try to keep everyone in line. I think it is a matter of mutual respect and trust, you trust us and in turn people respect this site and each other. There are thousands of members and non members, and this site keep attracting more people everyday. You must be doing something right, you could be a great model for other sites to emulate.

I also want to say thanks for not making our messages part of another network like Twitter or Facebook. I feel my trust has been violated with another mental health site who is doing this. Our posts that were made all the way back to 2002 can now be tweeted or messaged on Facebook without our permission. It takes a lot for some of use to even open up some of our deepest feelings and even reach out for support, but then to worry the posts could be pasted around online by other online sources (for years) with who knows what kind of private policies they have, is SCARY.

Psych Central feels private even with the thousands of members, and that is why it is easy to post, especially our mental health issues.

I feel so fortunate to come across this site, and in the future when I am a T, I would have no problem with clients coming here. This is a top class site! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for this!

Yes!! An absolutely huge for DocJohn!!

I have been to various other forum sites and NONE of them are run so professionally and ethically (IMO) as this site.

As a community, we have the occasional upheaval and spats, but some of it is par for the course. I have always been impressed with the way the tough times have been handled.

This is a wonderful site DocJohn and I'm proud to be a member!!

Thank you!!

I agree with you. I was a member of another site which really did more harm to my mind instead of helping. Thanks Doctor John for a terrific site.

Just a few thoughts...

1. A community is nothing without the support and participation of its members. In other words, we would be nothing without you!. You are the most valuable resource we have, and we're just here to provide you a safe place to share with one another.

2. I could not run this community without the support and endless time and energy of our team of volunteer moderators and other administrators. They each deserve a standing applause in my book, as they work tirelessly to keep this place peaceful and safe.

3. The best way to show your support for our community is to spread the word through word of mouth, wherever you go online, to others who might be seeking help or benefit from our community. I could never thank you enough for doing so, except to say "Thank you!"

4. The best way to show your lack of support for a new feature is to simply refuse to use it and get other members to also refuse to use it. I would hope that if someone rolled out a feature that nobody uses, it would simply fade into the background (or even be removed). If we ever roll out a new feature here (and we would never introduce an advertising or marketing button that re-uses and re-publishes a part of your posts to another social network), we are always open to feedback and turning things off members don't use, don't want, or don't like. In fact, we've done that here with some things the forum software is capable of, but that our members would prefer not to have to deal with.

Thanks again for your continued support and kind words!

DocJohn

((((((((((((((((( DocJohn, Team members, Site Members )))))))))))))))))

Each and every single day I thank you all for Psych Central. I feel so blessed to have found this place first before finding other sites. I don't think I've ever heard anything about those other sites that could ever compare to the safety and well being of it's membership as Psych Central is.

Most of all, I thank the members who work so hard to share their problems and issues and also their breakthroughs and good times as well. I can't imagine there is any member here who hasn't learned something from another member and been able to apply it to themselves in their struggles to heal. I know I have learned so many wonderful things from all of you.

Thank you DocJohn for everything you do. Sometimes I don't say that enough......I'll work on that

xoxoxo

Nice to discover this and write here on American Thanksgiving:

I thanks Dr. John for his sensitive-sensible articles, witty essays, for his great ideas (including the site and the forum) to heal, help people to be all better - gathering so many brilliant minds with soul/heart to put them in practice and for his high ethical standards. It brings a hope:-)
Thanks for this!
