I just looked at a *CHEAP* studio apartment and I LIKE IT! I have almost nothing for furniture anyway, so the size would be right. The first two months would be extremely hard financially because I still have to catch up on a couple bills that I am behind on--car insurance and electric from my previous apartment. And there is NO way that ComEd is going to give me electricity again without payment. Getting this apartment requires a $35 credit check though, and with my situation it won't be good. I think my only hope would be to tell her that I am homeless, but have my life under control now, and if she would please consider me as I am. I would also need one-months rent as a security deposit. My last apartment I only had a for a few months because I was laid off a few weeks after I moved there. It was difficult finding the guy to even give him the rent, and the last month I was there I didn't have money to pay him so I lost my security deposit as that was used for the rent then. I would also have a 6-month lease. It's better than a 12-month right now, I think, but I would prefer the month-to-month method. I playing with so many numbers right now, it's almost hard to think. That's another reason why I came online, to "relax" from the excitement. Thinking...HOME SWEET HOME?!?! I don't know for sure yet how I could do this, but after the first two months it should be okay. Still thinking. It's such a big step, and an expensive one--plus the credit check thing. Thinking...HOME SWEET HOME?!?!

Pardon me for hijacking my own thread, but I just had the scariest online moment! I just wrote my post and clicked and the next screen I saw was the error! I said a fast prayer to the computer gods to bless DocJohn and to save my post--I am soooo glad I don't have to retype all of that! Thinking...HOME SWEET HOME?!?!

Oh Inky, I so hope you get the apt. I know how exciting it is to have hope that you won't be homeless. I know what it's like to have no furniture. When I moved here I had absolutely nothing., but the apt was mine.

The Salvation Army sometimes can help you with the deposit and with the electric bill if they are not out of funds. Various churches also can help, and the people at the Salvation Army can give you the list.

Sending every good thought and prayer your way. Let us know.

Hugs,

Jan
