I think bump means down. Like what a shame kind of thing, but that they care for you. Just a one word makes a difference to reply to a post. Then again its a quick thing to do. Sounds fun not to do it to often. bump

It's so that a thread gets 'bumped' up to the top like when 'fraises' was posting here everyone started lots of threads and people kept 'bumping' them so that fraises threads got put onot the 2nd page, and less people would read them.

Someone came in the other night and posted a bunch of nasty messages regarding his bathroom (or lack thereof) habits. It was disgusting.

We were trying to keep current topics at the top of the page so his stuff was pushed on to page 2 where people might not have to see it.

It was really, really gross what he wrote, and he did it in several forums.

Dayzee, the "authority" to bump is given when someone comes in and starts posting a ton of triggering posts all over the entire forum for the strict purpose of triggering and upseting people. This person had done this before apparently, and in the middle of the night, one of the members had the unfortunate luck of reading them. She PM'd me giving me a warning about it, and as a result I didn't read any of the smut and several of us started "bumping" his posts and sending warnings until a mod got online, and then the member was removed. It wasn't about blocking posts that were genuine opinions that happened to offend people, it was about blocking someone who's sole purpose was to come in and flame and upst.

LOL we are funny, aren't we? A simple answer, no politics involved....

Anyone who thinks a previous post -or thread- is important and wants that post -or thread- to go to the "top" of the list in a forum listing can do so....

they can do this by posting a new post. (Right? This happens every time!)

Often, instead of writin, "g Hey I think this is a good thread and I want you all to read it," they just post "Bump." That bumps that post/thread to the top.

Yes sky is absolutely right. Many times a post that somebody feels would benefit others or feels the posting person needs some attention gets moved down from new posts being added. Then somebody just "bumps" it back to the top.

The reason there were so many bumps the other night was because of what Rayna said about a person who called him/her self Frasias or some name like that. This "person" posted a bunch of really nasty stuff in several forums. It was gross and an attempt to hurt and embarrass members of this site.

It was discovered and an attempt was made to contact mods and/or admin. since it was in the middle of the early am none were available so in an attempt to protect people at this site from being triggered we started "bumping" good posts up trying to send the garbage to the second page.

The person then bumped the garbage back up and a "war of types followed. We at this site won. To my knowledge no one was triggered or embarrased.

We made every attempt to keep the real posts in order but it was very hard and we were all very tired.

This all happened in several forums I think maybe 5 or so and the poster kept bumping the garbage back all over.

Hopefully that explains all the posts that just say "bump" from the other night.

The nasty posts have been removed so it makes less sense than if they were still here. Hopefully that person will not come back.

Keep your fingers crossed.

Take care all.
