I got a horrid letter from the government in the mail today to inform me that I am not eligible for disability despite being bipolar, borderline and GAD. It really puts me in dire straits now. I dont know what to do. THere is no appeal allowed.

What reasons did they give you paddy? Usually when you fill out the form you have to give the worst case scenario to the questions. Did you do this. Did you get a mental health provider to back up the form? Surely you can appeal.

Pegasus, the reason the gave me was that I was ill before I came to Holland 5 years ago and are therefore not responsible for my welfare. It lies with the country where I lived previously. They state in the letter that the decision is final. I did work inbetween the last five years I have been here and have paid my taxes and social security contriibutions so I think it is very very unfair. I cannot afford to live here now without the disability and that is going to upset my partner greatly. I could get assistance from home but I am passed that now and will not hold the begging bowl out anymore.

((((((( paddy )))))))

Yes that does sound very unfair with you having been there for five years. That surely sucks. I hope that you can find a solution of some sort.

Appeal, no. But can you start a new request after some time goes by? Opinions could change.

Take care Paddy.

Paddy, I know that feeling of being turned down by the Government, I wish you could appeal this, I'm so sorry for you. I hope you have a big connection of support and people you can lean on.

(((((((Paddy)))))))) That sounds absolutely outrageous! I had to argue with the Swedes first about whether I'm as bipolar here as I was in the States (see, somehow, they don't belong to the human race, and the air here is special so I am automatically healthy here, what?!) and then when they noticed I was still trippy, I had to talk them into letting me work and not going on disability Any way to check with EU law on that? It doesn't sound kosher. Huggs, dear.

I've only just seen this, so sorry for the later response.

It totally sucks that you can't get something to help you right now. I wish we could do something for you. I'm thinking of you anyhow

Thanks for this!
