Hi everyone!

Welcome to Psych Centrals’ Aspergers /Autism chat. My name is Michah, I have Aspergers and I will be leading the chat. Please check your calender as it will show up differently depending where you live. The chat is scheduled on Sunday 7 March @ 1700 New York EST and will carry on weekly from that date.

Each week I will be picking a topic so please feel free to put your suggestions forward if you feel that there is something you wish to talk about, and others may get help from that too. I will try and take everyone’s suggestions and address them in the following chat.

The chats’ ethos is centred around respect for others views, gentle debate, care, safety and support. I ask that we be mindful that teenagers and some children may be viewing or participating in the chat, with supervision from guardians or unsupervised so adult topics must not be addressed without prior knowledge. If there is something you are really struggling with and is an adult topic, we can discuss it after chat.

Please keep language at a PG level .

This chat is for members who deal with AS, Autism, ADD, ADHD, Learning disorders, carers, parents, guardians and other family……..and any other of our wonderful members who would like to contribute. I do ask that we be mindful that sometimes chat can be quite stimulating and overwhelming. It can also become very “loud” as well as visually distressing, so some quiet time to reflect through chat can be a good thing. Please leave your computer screen if it becomes overwhelming and return when you are able.

I also ask that we do not discuss political topics. That is for another chat, another time.

Topic suggestion: Special Interests

It's a trait that I have though the doctors say I don't have AS, but sometimes I can't stop thinking about something that interests me and I was picked on as a kid for being that strange bird girl.

Maybe sharing special interests and how they make you feel and stuff.
