I made the Top Ten!

As some of you know, I was given notice on Monday that I'm gettig laid off from my current job as of July 8th. I'm not to upset by this because I look at it as a means to an end - no more emotional abuse from my co-workers and more availability to go on interviews, pound the pavement, etc. And I'm not worried financially because I can draw unemployment until I find something. (Just a side note, unemployment looks at the past 12 months to determine payment, so it will be more money than my piddly 16-hour paychecks.)

Well, I went on an interview this morning for a job I reeeeeeeeeely want (at a local Community Center) and out of 30+ resumes, mine made the "top ten" for interviews. They are going to be narrowing it down to three this afternoon, and I should know by the end of the week if I got the job or not. She asked me how I would handle people who are 'stressed out' about things (brides-to-be, people planning a wake) and I told her that "I would put myself in their situation and ask myself 'What would make this easier?'. She started scribbling like mad!

So, please, could you all keep your fingers, toes, eyes (and anything else you can cross) crossed for me!

I know what it is to be in a job, that makes you miserable.
Being laid off, gives opportunity (when there is unemployment check(s) ) in finding something better, and that sounds like what will happen for you, and fingers are crossed for you, wishes for luck and happiness in the new job to come

This is wonderful news. I know that being at the current job was agony for you so I am so happy for you that something positive came out of a bad situation. Well, no word yet on the job, I didn't have a long enough lunch break to call them today. As of 1:00pm tomorrow, I am officially laid off. Even if this job I really want falls through, I have unemployment to get me by until another opportunity presents itself.
