STUPID PEOPLE!!!!

So I worked all day and then went to see T directly from work...this included a two hour drive. I turn down my street about an hour ago and I really have to pee and my animals hadn't eaten since 4am so they were hungry...and what to my wondering eyes should appear?

My street is FILLED with cop cars and they have the driveway to my apt complex blocked off. People are everywhere standing around. I pull over and flag down an officer and he says..."Oh there's a man with a gun that's held up in his apartment and he's still shooting so we've evacuated most of everybody except for the ones furthest away from his apartment. It should only be about a couple hours before SWAT can get it taken care of".

This is my new place I just moved into....in a supposed better neighborhood, miles away from my last place which had SWAT there two weeks in a row. What the HELL!!!! I miss the Portland Metro area....this area I moved to is turning out to be the armpit of Oregon!!

No worries though. I'm back in my apartment. I went around the back way, parked on the street and snuck back into the complex on foot. I've peed, my dog has peed, and we've all eaten....and we're still alive and SWAT's still here.

((Elysium)) - let's hope this is an isolated incident. So glad you peed, your dog peed and you're all full lol. At least you know you're safe with the swat team. I wonder if they peed??? I hope you don't mind me seeing the humor in your post. I do hope you don't end up moving, yet again.

I appreciate the humor!!

And I don't think the SWAT team has peed. They're still here and I saw a few of them gearing up outside my place with all there fee-fee little shields and assault rifles.

I hope others can appreciate our humor too. I did speak with one of the members of the SWAT and I told him that I would be thinking safe thoughts and saying prayers for them, and the perp. I told them to be careful too. I checked with them and no one has been injured as of yet so that's a great thing. I hope they can get this taken care of without anyone getting injured too.

They were talking to the guy over the bull horn earlier and asking him to come to his door, but I take it he declined their invitation.

Anyway...I don't plan on moving...LOL!!! I'm sick of moving. I actually feel way more comfortable in this place than the last one and there are no rats or fleas so I will stay.

I am going to go out and buy myself a nice shiny Glock 9mm though. If this is the type of stuff that goes on in this armpit, I'm going to have protection.

I'll keep you posted.

I'm really sorry - that would completely freak me out. But I'm glad you're ok. And I'm glad your new place doesn't have rats or flees.

If you do buy a gun be sure to take a firearms safety course.

Just an update....

Thank goodness, the man turned himself over to SWAT/Police just before midnight so the whole thing ended peacefully without anyone getting hurt. Despite some frazzled nerves in the community.

I have to say I have a love-dislike relationship with Police Officers due to the fact that they turned their backs on me and left me with my abusers. That was a long time ago though. The Police did an awesome job last night and showed restraint and patience with this man. It sucked because it took so long, but it was good they didn't just go crazy on the guy cuz someone would have probably gotten hurt.

Some background on the man that I learned through the news this morning...

He is in his 20's, is a Navy Vet, and he went to the VA Hospital on Friday because he was suicidal and had a plan. It seems like the VA just blew smoke up his butt and sent him away. What's wrong with that? They could have given him the help he needed to keep him safe and prevented this whole thing. Instead they turned away and put this guy and the whole community at risk. This makes me sad and angry.
