I just watched a TV show about specially trained dogs, and the segment I just watched documented a family with a child who--I *THINK*--had autism. I missed the beginning and they didn't say after I turned it on, but that's what it sounded like. The dog made such a tremendous impact on the boy--seeing the results on a TV show was awesome. I can only wonder the extreme results over time in real life. Amazing!

It is amazing what our furry friends can do for us.
Six yrs. ago I had to do my research paper, I chose the topic of Animal Assisted Therapy, it was amazing how far back it dated, and how more advanced it has become. Certain types or forms of disorders that dogs (and other animals)have been trained to detect/assist humans, what amazes me are "Seizure dogs", I still can't believe how they can detect oncoming seizures before it happens to the person, or at the very begining of seizure, but it is so amazing ![]() It is terrific that the animal can alert someone in the home when something wrong is taking place or about to. I would have loved to see this show you saw, if it is being aired again, let me know so I can watch it. Thanks for sharing this with us. Take care, DE ((((((((((( inky ))))))))))))))) Forgot this, but I have seen some shows that have found that dogs can sniff out cancer in humans, haven't seen or heard anymore on that. It was interesting, they showed a person yet to be diagnosed with some form of cancer, lieing down and the dog being used actually sniffed and stayed fixed on the location of the cancer, most detected were tumours, was another amazing thing dogs are capable of. Love my dogs ![]()
