Tomorrow my sister will be admitted voluntarily into a psych hospital. It will be the her first time. I'm really happy she is finally getting the extra help she needs and she will get all her medications adjusted. Still, I'm a little anxious.
Please keep her in your prayers and thoughts.

I'm glad your sister will be voluntarily getting the help she needs. That's a very smart decision she's making. She will be in my thoughts.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad she is going voluntarily.

At what stage does one get admitted non-voluntarily?
The reason I ask - the very first time I went to see a psychiatrist he wanted to admit me; I was really just battling with a bit of depression. After some discussion, I agreed to go a few days later.

I then tried to OD a few weeks later, and took myself to hospital, more because I felt physically sick.

Now, unless I let people know how I am really feeling, or start acting REALLY strange, why would anyone force me to go to hospital?

I do wish your sister all the best ((HUGS))
Thanks for this!

Sugahorse...how ARE you really feeling?

Does your therapist know, or those close to you?

I used to keep things hidden...but it felt best to keep them out in the open, to write about them here in the least....

We love you, PC loves you as you are

as my mood says - Twisted. I try and put my thoughts in a mail to a friend, and i think I do a good job.
My therapist and I do not have a decent relationship yet, as she's new and I've only been to see her once.
Well, when I say therapist, she's my psychiatrist

Sugarhorse my understanding concerning non-voluntarily admittance into a hosp happens when a person is a danger to their self or a danger to others.

The involuntary commitment laws require a confluence of mental illness or alcoholism and a showing of a danger to yourself, others or property.

They also require that you be unsuitable for admission in any other way, i.e. volunatary

How is your sister doing? I recently spent 2 1/2 days & 3 nights in a psych hospital, & I volunteered to go. I'm glad I did, because it helped! Please keep us posted!
Thanks for this!
