I'm going through a meds adjustment right now, so I'm seeing a lot of my pdoc (weekly appointments) He's beeing very thorough and has put me through a lot of tests to make sure I'm ok physically. So every time I see him, he takes my pulse. It's always really high at 99 bpm. So for the last week out of curiousity, I've been checking my pulse at various times during the day and keeping a written record. It's ranged from a low of 84 to a high of 92. That's still on the high side of normal, but I'm really out of shape, so I'd expect it to be on the high side, but it's still lower than when he takes it. So today he asked me if seeing him makes me anxious.
Of course I wimped out when I answered, and just said "a bit" when really going to see him, completely freaks me out. #1. I'm generally scared of all Dr.'s - they intimidate me. #2. I don't particularly like him, he has all the therapeutic warmth of a dead fish but he's super compitent with meds and very thorough, plus it would be really hard to change Dr's so I'm sticking with him. #3. His office is in the same building that I was IP in, and I don't have fond memories of being IP even though it helped me a lot. #4. I have this irrational fear that everytime I go to an appointment there's a 50% chance that I won't be allowed to leave, and that they'll hold me on a 72 hour form. (This is a completely irrational fear, but it still goes through my head) So yes seeing him makes me hugely anxious. Anyone else scared of their pdoc? Splitimage |

Lately I've been worried about the competance of mine. He's recently written my script wrong twice. I walked out of his office without realizing so I had to do w/o my antidepressant for 8 days, a mistake that set me off on a depression that I'm still dealing with. shaggy

Don't know what a "pdoc" is but all doctors bug me. I've been misdiagnosed so many times with so many different things..mental and physical so I have to second guess everything, try and figure out what to tell them and what not to tell them etc.
