I have recently been diagnosed with pica disorder ...
(Pica is a medical disorder characterized by an appetite for substances largely non-nutritive (e.g. metal (coins, etc), clay, coal, soil, feces, chalk, paper, soap, mucus, ash, gum, etc.) i am wondering if there is anyone here who shares this dx. not much info on the net and would love to talk with someone who does

I have never been diagnosed with anything like that, BUT, I have been eating paper since I was 9. I still remember how it all started, it was just a joke with my friends because we were hungry so we decided to make fake food out of paper. The joke lasted a few weeks, and now it's just a habit I have. Magazines, newspaper, notes, if it's paper I'll eat it. All my notes from when I was studying are eaten around the edges, I try to go around the writing and just eat the blank stuff.
I've never really thought much of it though. |

Did you have a full medical checkup, silently? There are often mineral deficiencies that make a difference in some pica symptoms:

Pica can be associated with anemia. Be sure you get a complete physical. If there is an underlying physical disorder that can be treated your condition will likely go away. |
