This place sells toys with "mental illness". They come with a medical history, a diagnosis and a treatment plan. The illnesses vary.

Is this making fun of people with mental illness or is it going to help children to come to terms with and understand their mental illness and how it can be treated?

I'm just not sure, I think many people with a mental illness may be insulted or get angry, hurt etc....though I think the toys are rather fun and may be of help to kids (I know I'd buy a set of them because I love soft toys).

Be AWARE though that the website has a possible trigger as the home page has a hypodermic needle stuck into a cushion and it says "psychiatry for abused cuddly toys". So if you are triggered or easily offended don't go there

Well...maybe they will expand the line to include people with illnesses other than mental. Like cancer critters so everyone can equally offended. We humans sure don't think how our ideas with effect people.

Yes Futz I agree in that regard. I wrote them a rather long email telling them that they didn't really understand mental illness and how people are affected. I told them I came from an online support group for people with mental illness and that some people would be insulted and hurt. I also told them that they should change the hypodermic needle on the cushion on the home page so that people who have issues with them wouldn't be triggered. I explained that it is a PTSD issue at least. I don't think they thought about their obligations to people with mental illness and that maybe they could put more thought into it now. Adding of course that, that was my opinion only, and that they may receive other opinions too.

I think their whole concept will draw in more opinions than sales.

It looks to me that it's a site for German doctors to order things for their offices??

Strange to say the least, at least to me it is anyway.

Yes, I think it is for German child psychiatrists.

If it is for doctors, that makes more sense to me. If they were in general stores I would have to have a think about it.

No it isn't for doctors. There was an article about them on my news page.

This guy and his girlfriend were discussing how many soft toys she had. It was some kind of joke between them. Then they brought this concept up and started making them.

They are amenable to people buying wholesale and onselling but they did not create the toys for doctors. I suggested to them when I contacted them that to sell the toys to child psychiatrists may be a good idea so that kids there would have something to relate to.

Greetings,

Hmmm.... I am going to have to agree with you, again, for I do not know how to take such, either.

Have a good one.
