I had a pdf copy of the now outdated DSM-IV (The diagnostics and statistics manuel for mental illness).

Does anybody know where I can acquire the new version?

It's new, you'd have to buy or borrow it: Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5(TM)): American Psychiatric Association: 9780890425558: Amazon.com: Books

Thanks, I just skimmed over the reviews and it talks about their being a wait for the electronic copy so maybe it's not out in pdf format yet.

Thanks though
