I just looked at Who's Online and saw several people were doing this.

It just seemed like a pretty strange turn of words for a site like this.

What does that mean, in "flat mode"? I know it must be computer related, but do not know much of that stuff.
May I should ask in "tech forum"?

Flat mode is the way you view messages. Flat mode is where all the messages are on one screen. Threaded is where you view one at a time and click on the title to view the next thread.

To see the difference click "Expand" at the top of the General forum (or any forum) before you click on an individual thread.

All "reading a post in flat mode" means is someone is reading a post and has clicked so that you can't see exactly what post they are reading.

I believe "flat mode" is the default setting to view posts as well. At some point you may also see someone "reading a post in threaded mode". That just requires a lot more clicking.

Thanks Reading a post in flat mode
I guess I never "clicked" on that option? But then I do not really care if people know what post I'm reading, don't see what is the big deal, but then that's me. I'm sure others have their personal reasons, and I respect that, but I don't care if someone sees me reading a thread. Reading a post in flat mode
Again thanks for explaining it to me, makes me feel less in the dark on what various options we can access.

I'm all too well aquainted with being in "expanded mode"! ROFL Reading a post in flat mode After living all my live like that, "flat mode" wouldn't bother me all that bad. Maybe if I got "threaded" I would lose some of my "expansion"? Reading a post in flat mode Reading a post in flat mode

hehehe actually Sep you COULD remain EXPANDED and read in threaded mode! Threaded is good also when you wish to find one of your comments, or another member's post (like they asked you to go read it) because each post is a line in the thread and shows WHO posted it... Threaded can also help you to NOT view a certain post "accidently" or if you have already read it and wish to move on or avoid it... you can click another's (depending upon whether you choose expanded or not will also determine how much you view and how.) I suggest everyone play with the options... you might find one that you like better!

(This is an option in your own PROFILE ... the second of EDIT PREFERENCES... there are two categories... flat mode/threaded and the one below it is expanded/collapsed.

Personally, I prefer basically flat mode with a few pillows for good viewing! Reading a post in flat mode

LOL Chances are good that I'll remain EXPANDED and keep reading posts that way. Not keen on getting THREADED. I hear you suffer with "gas" afterward. Reading a post in flat mode
