this is quite a risk. but I'm not face to face with anyone so... if you read this will you please respond? i will just assume the worse if people don't respond. today, today, i responded to some posts. (though I'm sure other people have more problems than i do)...i started to think. i am a disaster! so, I'm going to list some and maybe I'll feel better. or maybe I'm just really screwed up! what to do you think? don't know if I'll post after this. who would take anyone seriously after this? i'm not trying to have a pity party. i'm just scared.
PTSD-post traumatic stress disorder
Bi-polar 1-manic depressive disorder
DD-NOS-Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified
ADD-attention deficit disorder
SAD-seasonal affective disorder
TBI-traumatic brain injury (deficits from the brain injury)
Panic Disorder
OCD-obsessive compulsive disorder
dyslexia-not a illness but effects my everyday life
some might seem to overlap. but some of these showed up at different times. it took the psychiatrists, doctors and lots of therapy a find treatments & meds to get to some resemblance of "stable". it's so unbelievable. but i developed some of these at different times. took psychiatrists, doctors and intense therapy for a long time to figure it all out and get proper meds and treatments. "am i a freak of nature"?

You certainly have some challenges to overcome. I am new to this board but I'd like to commend you on relentlessly pursuring a path to normalcy. I'm not a mental health professional so I won't make comments. I will, however, try to encourage you to continue to strive for "normalcy".

Hi ((((((nikkiamber))))))) I think it's good you have a diagnosis for your different emotional issues. I bet a lot of us here could also come up with a list of several different disorders that we suffer from (I know I could put together quite a list!!). What I'm saying is, I don't believe it is unusual to be diagnosed with several different disorders. As you say, a lot of disorders overlap. The main thing is that we get the treatment we need so we can learn to manage our issues better and get on with living our lives again. It sounds like you've put a lot of work into your treatment and that's great. I definitely do NOT think you are a "freak of nature"!! Good for you for working on yourself and getting the treatment that you need.

PS: Also, as someone else here wrote: don't forget that we are MORE than the sum of our disorders!! We may be diagnosed with this or that or the other, but our diagnosis is NOT the only thing that defines us!! I always find it helpful to try and remember that!!

I am new here but am excited to find a place to interact with others who have been thru what I have. I guess it's true "Misery loves company." My daughter tells me I have a mental condition (in addition to all my diagnosed ones) where I think everything in life relates to myself. I think she is just nit-picking. Is there such a disorder and if so, what are the symptoms? Thank you.

Hi!

Thank you for your courage and sharing.

You are not a freak of nature. Everyone has problems but not everyone is brave enough to face them.
Take care.

I don't know you--perhaps you're bipolar, ADD, OCD, etc. etc., but I'll bet you're also creative, talented, compassionate, and much more. Sundog's right on about how you're more than a list of diagnoses.

Best wishes-
Thanks for this!

Greetings,

No, you are indeed not having a pity party, but more like a courage party. A party where everyone positively encourages one another in their battles in life.

Have a good one.
Thanks for this!
