Hello,

I have some questions regarding Neyroileptic Malignant Syndrome(NMS)

1. Do antipsychotics with more anticholiergis effects cause less NMS?
2. Who gets it more male or female?

Thank you

Wish I had more answers for you on this. Do not know too much about this neuro reaction to anti-p's. Sure am glad I don't have this because I like my Seroquel. Hope you find your answers though.

is this a survey or research you are trying to do? reason I asked is you only posted the questions but didnt tell us if you have it or other people you know have it or why you are asking about this.

Im sure if you google you will find your answers like I did.

"Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a life- threatening neurological disorder most often caused by an adverse reaction to neuroleptic or antipsychotic drugs."

"Demographically, it appears that males, especially those under forty, are at greatest risk for developing NMS"

Greetings,

I never even heard of such a syndrome. I, too, hope you are able to receive efficient answers on such.

Have a good one.

Anti-psychotics of any nature can cause this breakdown though there are a number of medications which seem to place patients at greater risk. You can contact poisons information to ask them for information regarding this issue.

If you are doing a paper on this then I suggest you research through the makers of the neuroleptic/anti-psychotic drugs. Their requirement for openess in our times makes it very difficult for them not to be able to answer your questions.
