The book "Silent No More" has already done at least one really good thing.

I talk to no one IRL about my childhood issues, DID, etc...not even hubby. It's not safe for many reasons. Anyhow, I told hubby that the book would be here in about a week...this was last Friday. He said, "Will you read me your poems?" The first reaction was shock that he would ask me that. The second reaction was fear...fear of sharing those very vulnerable parts of myself and what he might think of me knowing what some of those poems talk about.

I read one...he didn't freak and neither did I. I read another, then another. I read all five of them, and then even read a couple I've written since. It was an intimate type of sharing that I've never allowed with hubby before...in our almost 19 yrs. of marriage!

Afterwards I said, "Well?" He was shocked at the pain, venom and fear related. It helped him to understand a bit more, I think. He stayed side by side with me for three days...taking care of the baby, etc. It affected him profoundly I think...to my benefit and, ultimately, to our benefit. It was truly amazing.

I told t about this and I thought he might poop his pants. LOL. He was amazed! He's been trying to get me to trust hubby for a while now as he feels he's trustworthy. Big steps for me...thanks to a book of poems called, "Silent No More". How appropriate is that title?

I just wanted to share how this book is already aiding in the healing of one survivor. One reason for this book was to give voice to survivors. It's already well on its way to acheiving that goal! It gave parts of my experience a necessary voice to a necessary person.

Thank you, DocJohn, more than I can express. Thanks to everyone who contributed pieces of themselves, to those who read and contribute. This is a GREAT thing.

Thanks for listening,

kd

I wonder who deserved this as much as you, especially for all the help you've given others. What "SILENT NO MORE" Has Done For Me. Well done, Kimmy!

You're very welcome.

And I'd like to thank each and every contributor, because while I may have put it all together, it would be a book of empty, blank pages without those touching, thoughtful contributions by so many different authors. I was honored to be able to bring it all together in a relatively short amount of time.

Take care,
DocJohn

kimmydawn,

Are you really okay? Sometimes it takes me a while to process things like that and later realize "ouch."

kimmydawn,

It's good to deal with stuff when we're ready. Maybe the timing of reading SILENT NO MORE has helped you, as you address this new situation.

You aren't alone. ((((((huggs))))))
