Hi. I'm scheduled for a psych eval tomorrow at 12. I've been suffering from evolving symptoms that, due to family history, has caused my doctor to refer me to a psychologist for an eval. She thinks I may be schizophrenic. I'm just wondering what I should expect as I feel that may help my anxiety.

Questions! That's what to expect.
![]() There will be paper tests probably (one might be the MMPI, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory...this asks you hundreds of questions, some reworded and asked more than once. Don't take much time on each one, answer honestly and move on.) There might be functional tests like doing a big wooden puzzle pieces into their places while you're blindfolded. There will be verbal questions or testing maybe, like spelling words or giving the names of the President's etc. And for whatever tests you are given, at the end you will probably sit in the office with the Psychiatrist or Psychologist and talk and answer questions about how you feel and what irks you or how you react in situations or what you want help with...etc. There are NO wrong answers. ![]() Just be real, do your best. They are on YOUR side, wanting to find out how to help you best. If you are there for hours (they should have already told you how long to plan for) then don't be shy asking for some water to drink, or to take a bathroom break. ![]() If there are things you want them to know for sure, write them down on a piece of paper and read it while there, to be sure to let them know! Good wishes with obtaining the exact help you need. ![]()
