Am I the only one who has a strangely polar reaction to forums? This is my third forum or so. My first I still contribute to. It is technical and thus not very personal. My second was a music forum in French. I was trying to kill a couple birds with one stone. It was on this forum that I first noticed that I would sometimes wish I could erase all my posts, delete my user id, etc. in an instant to get rid of a sort-of 'exposed' feeling. Not to mention how awful I would feel after arguing with someone, which is commonplace on this music forum. With this forum (psychcentral), I tend to feel as though my comments will be judged in a way other than I intended or that my 'virtual presence' will annoy someone else and destroy the experience for them. Does anyone else experience this?

This forum, like others, doesn't appear to have an option to delete oneself or else I would have done it already. Maybe I just missed how to do it?

If anyone who reads this has 'permissions' to delete me from this forum, please go ahead and do so. Thanks. Best of luck to everyone.

Oofti,

If you're still around, I hope that you will keep posting. A really hard thing for us is to stay with it when we get some 'sensitivity' kicking in. I have found that it's always better if we can work through it. I have tried to learn to read replies to my posts with a clear head, and fight the 'rejection sensitivity' which always lurks.

Good thoughts, M

i'll stay. i am just feeling awful lately and am 'trying to erase myself' (not in the suicide sense). this seems to be my default reaction now that i am too old to hit everyone in the face. i wish i was only as smart as a racoon.

I appreciate your comments. It is nice to have a place like this. I wish I could quit my job and pee all over these computers on my way out.

Well, I didn't do it... yet, at least.

I sure feel stuck in an angry mood right now. I wish I could break out! Dammit.
