Right now I'm fed up with it all! I'm trying so hard to help both of my children, but ignorant and sometimes plain lazy; personnel, teachers, therapists, social workers, doctors and others are really making my daily life tough. All these phone calls, e-mails and meetings... grrr... I'm tired... I'm angry...
I haven't seen my psychologist since June last year and he's now found another job... The special educationist I see will retire in May. When I see her we always end up talking about the latest news and worries concerning my children. When it comes to my own needs they seem to get hidden in the shadows somewhere (don't get me wrong... my children are very important to me). The one who in the past really made a difference was my psychologist and us working with CBT. Looks like I'm going to be alone out in the cold without any professional support. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We're not professionals, but maybe you can find some solace here, HW. There is an Asberger's (I know it's spelled wrong!) support group, and an online CBT chat. I hope things lighten up for you soon.

I know one of the wierdest things is the lack of "Anhörig" support here. They actually avoid much in the way of support for the parents when it comes to the social services and Försäkringskassa when it comes to respite, counseling, etc. There is very little understanding of the interrelations of parents with kids with special needs, particularly kids with AS and how the needs of the parents and those of the child dovetail into each other. Yet these are the kids who often get abused just becase the parents break.
How are you managing otherwise? Is the new school working for your son? How are things at home for the other child? Do you think you can manage an on-line therapy, or do you think it would be best with a therapist you can talk to and meet? Canyou talk to one of your children's therapist's about what is happening to you so he/she can suggest what you can do? Maybe they can help ease the way a bit for you, dear. I'm so happy to hear from you again, but sad to hear that you are having such a hard time, dear heart. Kram! |

Dear one... you know the system here in this country... really crappy. Sorry to say but my son has not settled well. I'm in contact with the boarding school sometimes several times per day because of they not knowing what to do or not doing what they are supposed to do. My son told me this Tuesday that he 'at least once a week' wants to die to get away from everything. He's really behaving well when he's home in weekends though... so that's very good. The thing is - he doesn't see the whole picture - so he thinks he can move back home now since he's behaving well when being home. My daughter is showing how bad she's really feeling now since her brother moved. Her anxiety is high and she got diagnosed with OCD this autumn. I'm trying my best to give her the help and support she needs. She's in therapy. I saw the social secretary today and she's trying to assist me in getting a new psychologist. She said she's really frustrated on my behalf and because of not getting any results trying to help me. ty for you compassionate words, lonegael! how's your son and the rest of your family doing? ![]() |

I hope you can find the support that you need for YOU. Sorry about all of this stress and changes in your life. Maybe you can find another therapist that you like, and that is able to focus on working on YOUR issues and needs. Even though you love your children and I'm sure would do anything for them you need to put yourself first.
