they say golfish only have a 10 second memory, well so do i at the minute!! it makes me soo frustrated so goldfish must get frustrated too! I am so fed up loosing things which i have just put down, i have just spent 10 minutes searching for a bottle of water which was right beside me!! I have not been able to find my mobile phone since boxing day(i last remember having it in bed when i heard it die, i remember thinking i better charge it up, the charger was downstairs so i thought i would leave it till i went down the following day, but when i tried to find it it had gone, i have searched high and low, stripped the covers off, moved my bed to look under it and even looked in the pillow case!! but it is nowhere to be found, i searched downstairs too, even in the fridge (well you never know!! it is not in my hand bag or scooter or any pocket i have worn since before christmas!
All I can assume is it has grown legs and left home!!!
So If you see a small pink phone wandering around looking lost please let her know, i miss her!!!
Does any one else here have a 10 second memory and how do you cope with it??
Thanks for this!

To find your phone, look in the place where all your lost socks have gone.

LOL to everyone who's posted!

I say I have the attention span of a gnat. I wonder if that's shorter than 10 seconds?

More seriously yellowted, you might check out the fibro thread in the chronic pain forum. Fibro causes all kinds of memory issues. The posters in the forum share ideas for coping. Somethings I find helpful are -

Write things down. I keep a planner with all my appointments etc. in it. I'm also big on jotting notes to myself on post-it notes. Then I stick the notes in obvious places so I'll see them.

I try to stick to a routine... put things in the same place all the time, do things in the same order each day, that sort of thing.

It helps to have a sense of humor about the whole thing. It helps me to accept the fact that while I am not an airhead there are times I'm airheaded acting. It helps to be able to laugh at myself when I screw up.

Thanks for this!

The other day I couldn't find my phone either. So I kept calling it. I could hear it, but I couldn't find it, so I kept calling it. Made me crazy..

Then, I found the phone in my back pocket. Of my pants. That I was wearing.

True story!

I have actually been on my cell phone, talking to someone, and looking for my phone at the same time. Once, I said to my daughter- "Wait, I NEED to find my phone first," and she said "Mom, what is wrong with you?"

Have you thought about looking into "mindfulness"? For people who always misplace stuff or forget things, being "in the moment" can be helpful to keeping a focus on what you need or are doing/looking for.

Also, a goldfish has a much longer memory span than what was originally believed. One such example of this is via MythBusters, the TV show.

Lol @ Pegs!!

I always say of myself that I have the attention span of a goldfish. It has recently gotten worse - I'd say around the time I started on Lamictin. I need to do things at work as I get asked to do them - if I don't, I'll forget about them later on.
It's really interfering in my life. Even conversations with my boyfriend - I forget those from time to time.
But I've come to accept that that is me.
@ Christina - I watched that episode of Mythbusters.
My Siamese Fighter knows that when I pick up the packet with his food, that it's feed time; and he swims to the top of his bowl. So he has a real memory

i found my phone eventually it had slipped down the side of my bed which i can not reach!
I too try to make homour of my airhead ways. it only gets to me when i am particularly rough

I have 3 or 4 sets of car keys laying around. I tend to lose my keys and can't really go anywhere without them. Used to go totally insane and stress myself out and make myself sick looking for them. Now I have a few sets so if i lose one I can do what I need to do then come back to look for them later. Has made life soooooo much less stressful
