Hello. In the wake of all this horror that has beset the world in the form of natural and man-made disasters, I would like to suggest something.

Do something for charity and post it to this thread. If you don't do anything and just post that you did, you will know yourself to be a liar. Do this by the end of the week, and detail in your post the importance of what you did.

I have done nothing yet, but I will post too.

I'm sorry you're feeling unsafe in this world. My own little world really is ok, though it doesn't feel that way at times. What I do for others is personal, and not done to be seen. Take care of yourself! ok? Do it now

I AM taking care of myself. Your world is fine, I am sure. However, wasn't there an earthquake in Pakistan that killed 40,000 or so? That's the kind of thing I am talking about.

I gave a homeless man half my sandwich and eight dollars. This will strengthen his faith in the common decency of people.

Yes, and then do something ELSE for charity for the sake of this thread. There is always something ELSE you can do.

It doesn't even have to be for charity, just use your powers for good and mention it here, for the sole sake of this thread, not something you would do anyway.

I am with Sky on this one. I contribute to my own community. Depression is way up as I know that thousands of jobs have been lost in my area. It is heartbreaking to see.

My home city is the number one big city now known to be the poorest in the nation. Pawn shops are just everywhere.

Like my mom used to say to my father..."Charity begins at home". I admire your gusto, but I feel a little differently about how to respond.

Take good care! Do it now

While i understand the spirit of your idea, using our power for good should be just that. No need to post about it, or its importance, because after all, every good deed done, no matter how small is important.Remember what we get is for living, what we give is for life. Do it now

I don't brag about what good I can do, thank you.

The wording of the original post feels like an "order" as well as the response to mine. I take exception to it.

I tried to be "nice" about it, but...

I also believe that if you just have to tell somebody when you do something good for someone else, you are really doing it more for yourself than that person.

this thread should be locked, it is nothing more than a projection of your own guilt onto us,

quote Do something for charity and post it to this thread. If you don't do anything and just post that you did, you will know yourself to be a liar. Do this by the end of the week, and detail in your post the importance of what you did.

Sorry I don’t work of guilt trips, I had enough of them from my own family.

It sounds so commanding...
And yet, people who do things for good usually don't go bragging.
I agree the thread should be locked or something.
I don't think it is going to have any positive effect from this point out...

I agree. You can ask people to help out in their world, or in someone else's world, out of their own kindness or what-have-you. But you can't command people to "do it," and then also demand they post their charitible acts to a thread! lol

Most charity is done privately, and that is as it should be, because nobody is doing it for the attention (I hope). Folks do it out of the kindness of their heart for the pain and suffering others are experiencing.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
