I use to have war/battle metaphors back 35+ years ago, my therapists would keep pointing them out. I guess I'm more process/travel/trip or adventure now

Metaphors? Metaphors? We don't need no stinkin' metaphors around here!

A book or movie script. For me, this isn't necessarily a good thing, since it causes me to see the outcome as predetermined and I can't do a darn thing to change it. I also tend to see my own role in that book or movie as someone destined to experience the worst of everything. Even on my best days, I might see myself as the "Badluck Schleprock" character to whom bad things are supposed to happen, so that society can witness it and say, "That's bad. It shouldn't have happened. Let's not let it happen again." And changes are made so that others won't have to endure what I endured. Which may be kind of a noble reason for existing, but the whole "I can't fight fate" belief is damaging to me. I need a better metaphor.

i used to have a buttload of irrational ideas/metaphors pertaning to self and experiences in life. therapy helped me rid myself of many of these but those lil' tapes like to pop up when i least expect them. so i have to rewind and remind myself they aren't truths.
one positive one is my outlook of life in general..it's going to be a good day in the neighborhood cause it's another new day full of adventure.

ORIGIN late 15th cent.: from French métaphore, via Latin from Greek metaphora, from metapherein ‘to transfer.’

Or as Wikipedia says, the Greek is itself a compound of μετά (meta), “between” + φέρω (pherō), “to bear”, “to carry”.

So there.

** Since I have a Scottish computer there should be no real danger, but it still startles me.

Sorry, all pdf's do that since they require the Adobe reader on your computer. I think it just goes into "temp" and gets deleted/erased/overwritten by the system later.

I don't think so. Anyway, go back to my post; I edited it in a way that you might be able to interpret, you being so bright and all!

When I am not feeling too well I am thinking in terms of battle and prison.

But usually and most of the time my metaphors are those of a mission and a classroom. Those are almost archetypical for me.
