Cleanliness can be just as distressing as filthiness, because with filthiness, if you don't like what you see in the mirror, you have an excuse, which is that you just didn't put any effort into it. Also when you are clean, or when I am clean, I feel tense and anxious about becoming filthy again. This is annoying and aggravating. It is also frustrating to the point of actual
hyperventilation. I don't reach that point yet, but I may in the future. For now it is simply muscle clenching and swearing and feeling terrible. That can really destroy your whole day. You get to thinking things like "oh, how come I can't be neat, like bob is" . . . and so on. I think the issue here is some sort of perfectionism. And also maybe accepting that one is just scruffy looking by nature? There are also other things that cannot be controlled, like the weather. It is incredibly annoying for me to be in my work clothes and in my work hair and step out to a humid, windy day, which messes up your hair, and taxes the resources of your deodorant. Annoying beyond belief. Another thing is when pants don't iron! They slip off the ironing board as you try to iron them! That's when you grab the iron and bash it against the ironing board. And swear. And possibly call in sick, walk to the living room in your underwear and watch TV. Oh well.

I've accepted that I'm scruffy-looking. Even perfectly ironed clothes become wrinkled within minutes of my putting them on.

Princess Leia: Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder.
Han Solo: Who's scruffy-looking?[/i] <hr> Also wondering if a little bit of OCD comes into play here. It does with me.

i have made it into a art form to look scruffy, less things to worry about, has for ironing clothes? iron clothes? not done that for years, if you hang your clothes and spray them with a fine mist of water, the creases will drop out of them has they hang in the closset, saves time and effort all round

I'll give that a shot -- I've also heard that if you hang your clothes in the bathroom while you shower, the humidity will de-wrinkle them.
