I was admitted to the hospital by my psychiatrist because the voice I had in my head that was telling me to kill myself had gotten much worse and out of control. So I was admitted immediately within the same day. I was in the child and adolescent inpatient unit for 2 weeks. With new medications and a pile of diagnoses. I'm thankful because I learnt new relaxation and stress controlling techniques which helped make the voice disappear. Being in the hospital helped alot too because I got immediate help when I needed it. Although it was very boring and I got pretty home sick in those 2 weeks it helped alot.
I got diagnosed with Anxiety disorder, Depression, Psychosis, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Separation anxiety. I was put on Risperidone (2tablets a day) and Sertraline (3tablets a day).
I still have troubles with the anxiety part. But overall I'm doing alot better than how I was before.

so glad you were able to get immediate help for your voice--I am proud of the way you were able to share with your T what was going on and his immediate response to get you into treatment! Yeah, sometimes hospital life can be boring, but I'm glad you stuck it out and got the help you needed. And I'm glad the meds are working too. Give yourself some time with the anxiety. It may just be that your body needs time to assimilate to the new drugs. If they don't help within 3 - 4 weeks, then tell your T and see what can be done. At any rate--I"M PROUD OF YOU!!!!!

glad the hospitalization was helpful cutbuddie; been there more times than I care to count with my therapist currently trying to get me in without being sent to state hospital ( up in the middle of the night because of nightmares from that- just what a PTSD patient needs!). IF I go I hope that something "new" will click for me- the downward spiral has been going on for a while and I can't keep going. Good luck with your treatment!
