I'm new on this forum, and I haven't ever done anything like this before. I'm really nervous! I was just wondering if anyone here has trouble being around people? I often find myself trembling and nervous inside and out at the prospect of approaching someone, and worrying about things that most people would think unimportant. I mean...i've been sitting and thinking about what to type here for about twenty minutes, and almost no words come to mind. I do apologize if it's nearly incoherent. Anyhow, the purpose of posting here is (hopefully) to meet some people who think the same way I do, or just to generally meet some nice people, maybe to talk about these things with.
Thank you

I used to be like that, i was afraid to talk to people. Once i got into highschool things changed a little bit... well they changed alot. After i got a job at a fast food place, where i have to "deal" with customers, i feel much more comfortable with people. All you have to do is, really, just suck it up and do it. I know that sounds mean, i don't intend to be, but just jump in.Anyone else have trouble with people?

Robin, welcome. It is hard sometimes to voice your thoughts to others, but we are a really good group here and would love to hear more from you.

And yes, I prefer staying away from people as well. Makes life more difficult, doesn't it?

Robin, you've come to the right place. Anyone else have trouble with people? Welcome! A lot of us have trouble with people. You might want to look at the "social anxiety" thread on the Anxiety board. You will find that people at this site are really nice though, and we've felt the same way so we understand what it's like. I find it easier to communicate with people through writing rather than in person. How about you?

Welcome RobinDawn Anyone else have trouble with people?

You are in great company here....it helps knowing that you are not alone in your struggles.

Keep posting so we can learn more about you too...I saw on your profile that you are from Nova Scotia? So am I! I am located in Pictou County...where are you?

Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Wow...thank you all for replying. I also find it much easier to comminicate through writing rather then face-to-face. It seems less "on the spot." I think that, for me, it's because I can sit and think about what I want to say, whereas when with "real people" (for lack of a better term, I guess) my mind tends to go blank, and with that comes the obligatory stumbling over words and the panicky shaky feeling.

To Heatherm--> You're in Pictou? I'm on Cape Breton Island, a few steps short of Victoria County, but technically in the CBRM. This is pretty coincidental, because I haven't ever met anyone from Nova Scotia online before.

Hi Robin Anyone else have trouble with people?

You can talk here all you want....we are all here to listen and help you in anyway we can. I understand what you mean about the feelings though when talking to people....I used to be so outgoing - still am somewhat - but a lot different than what I used to be....my problem is getting myself out the door to go. I am ok once I am there but it is the going part that I still struggle with somedays. It is getting much better though Anyone else have trouble with people? It will for you too.

Yes I am in Stellarton actually...my family (Dad's side) is from Cape Breton - Port Hood area. This is soo nice - we are neighbours! This is amazing Anyone else have trouble with people?
