Ive in the past tho its been awhile have watched "Conspiracy Theory" with Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts a few times...it never bothered me in the least to watch it...had an interesting plot etc....
Yesterday i was browsing through Netflix looking for something to watch and saw it and thought id watch it....I swear within ten/fifteen minutes I was feeling so freaking weird and paranoid I had to turn it off and after it was off the feelings still lingered there for a long long time....I take my meds every day and my past paranoia is all but gone thanks to them....what the heck happened? I know in the movie Mel plays a guy who is paranoid and has mental issues but why did that effect me that way? Anyone else have a movie or song or whatever bring some things back to some degree? |

I'm to the point where I can't watch movies with any kind of mental illness in the plot because it is too painful to be reminded of my own.

I've suffered from bad paranoia. Fortunately its controlled by my meds.
Every now and then, I find myself hyper-sensitive to paranoid ideas, plots, etc., when 99% of the time it wouldn't bother me at all. I just turn-off/remove the source and try and forget about it. |

Girl Interrupted triggers me big time - not all movies with plots surrounding MH do that to me. But I think that movie hits too close to home. The weird thing is I bought the DVD because I had read the book (the book didn't trigger me) and thought the movie would be okay for me to watch - wrong! That DVD will be at my garage sale this summer!
